Living in Wheatland County
We love living in The Lakes of Muirfield!!
We built and moved out from the city and have not looked back. We have made new friends, have gotten to know neighbours and love the serenity of living in the country. These are the relationships of the past – where people genuinely care about their neighbours and are always willing to lend a helping hand. The golf club is a hidden gem but even if people are not golfers there’s a wonderful social network out here. We often get together to play games and cards and go to all sorts of parties but are home within minutes. If someone is considering moving they should drive around and chat with the people out in their yards and I’m sure they’ll hear numerous similar stories. We are so proud to call this home – this community has exceeded our expectations
Almost 3 years have gone by since we left the hustle and bustle of city living and moved out to The Lakes of Muirfield.
The yelping of coyotes in the distance and the honking of geese have replaced the sound of loud motorcycles and screeching tires.
Like all my neighbours, we back on to green space, and in this case, it is a par 5 on the golf course. Yellow canola flowers carpet the surrounding fields during the summer. The sunsets are beautiful as they fill the open sky and no two sunsets are ever the same. We can see the mountains that seem so close and the city lights that are even closer. We are in a community where everyone knows and respects each other and at night when the gates close and serenity takes over the community, it’s hard to believe that we are minutes away from 1.1 million people.
Growing up in Calgary I thought city living was the way to go.
I never imagined myself saying “going to town today” but now I could not imagine living in a city again. Coming home and sitting on our deck, looking at the wide open spaces and listening to the birds is amazing. It is a more relaxing life and one I feel very grateful to have!!
